The Limbe Traditional Wrestling Association includes 12 villages from the Limbe area, each with its own unique style and traditions. Each village has its own team, and the teams compete in tournaments throughout the year. The association helps to preserve the diversity of traditional wrestling in Limbe, while also promoting a sense of unity and coorperation among the villages.So, the association is not only about competition, but also about bringing the community together.
The rules of the wrestling are simple, but the sport requires great strength, speed and agility. Wrestlers are allowed to use only their arms and legs to wretle their opponent to the ground. The first to touch the ground with their back, loses the game. Wrestlers are forbidden to grab their opponents clothing or hair, matches can last anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes and the winner is determined by the referee.
